Miniature Paper Shoes with Serena Partridge
We were drawn into a world of haute couture, miniature accessories and flights of fancy by textile artist, Serena Partridge at our first workshop of 2013. Inspired by a local junk shop, Serena's first collection of miniature suitcases made a enchanting introduction to her work. Then came Marie Anionette-style shoes and gloves, whimsies of a by-gone era. It was such a joy to be able to study the work of an artist at close hand without the usual restrictions imposed by a gallery display.
Overwhelmed by the choice of papers and trimmings we finally settled down to make pairs of little shoes. It took a while to master the scale on which we were working but with Serena's unfailing support and enthusiasm we created our own versions of her lovely paper shoes.
Serena's work is currently on show at the Mercer Gallery in Harrogate as part of the All Dressed Up exhibition which runs until July 2013.
