Annwyn Dean
We had a lovely afternoon with Annwyn Dean on Monday. She brought some 17th and 18th century fabric and lace for us to look at (and handle!) and talked to us about how they inspired the gorgeous handmade books she produces. The patterns on the fabric and lace are used to emboss paper; she also makes printing blocks reflecting the fabrics. We learnt about the history of cloth production and historical techniques which was fascinating. The backs of the clothing samples were just as interesting as the fronts, showing how different materials had been repurposed as linings and facings.

Wyn's workshop
It was Wyn Ingham's (Halifax Branch) jug workshop today and what a fabulous day we had. Kits ready to go, a day of relaxed stitching and entertaining conversation. The felt jugs were embellished with various techniques including boro, felt applique and stitched button flowers. We talked about all sorts of things - regaling each other with tales of our holiday adventures, funny incidents and food; interesting purchases from Amazon - expected, unexpected and dodgy! The jugs were really sweet and we enjoyed ourselves very much. Thanks go to Wyn who's workshops are always great fun. Here's a flavour of our day including Wyn's samples and our effort in various stages of completeness.
