Yarndale 2019

Another year done at Yarndale. It was a bit cold and definitely very wet this year, but at least we weren't on bikes - the World Cycling Race came through Skipton on the Sunday and it absolutely poured down!  We were in the Lairage this time - not our usual spot which was unfortunate as we missed a lot of you! However, we still met some lovely people from far flung places and found some  new members which is great. We had a bigger pen so brought the large community pieces again as they always draw a lot of interest. Here's a flavour of our day, thanks to Susie for the photos. Thanks to all the volunteers who helped out over the weekend.

AGM September 2019

Welcome back everyone! It was great to see some new faces too. We had a busy day, with some of us participating in a mini workshop with Helen Barnes making Charlotte Bronte's needlecase; Charlotte's was about a quarter of the size of ours so very intricate. We didn't have time to finish but here's a quick look at Helen's sample and our efforts so far. Apologies for the shadows on photos - it's not a great room for photography!!

Meanwhile, here's a sample of what everyone else was up to.

Show and Tell - work over the Summer
Sue's Danube cruise stitching

Jackie has been making some lovely little books

Some wire work from Susie

Fine stitching form Margaret

A celebration form Jill and landscape from Clare

Yarndale wouldn't be complete without Chris's sheep. Come and find us - we're in a different place this year.

The new one!

September Newsletter

September 2019 Newsletter
Hello
I hope you’ve had a relaxing holiday and are ready to return with new ideas and inspiration. It would be lovely to see some of the things you’ve completed, collected or visited over Summer, so please bring them along to the meeting and share them with everyone. This includes the last round of Travelling Books.
Our September meeting will be very busy as it is our AGM and of course time to renew Guild and Branch membership. I am pleased to report that membership fees remain the same as 2018, that is to say, Skipton Branch members pay £48.00 and for members of another branch the fee is £10.00. Payment by cash or cheque made payable to Skipton Embroiderers’ Guild either on the day or by post to:
Jane Filby, 2 The Orangery, Carleton Road, Skipton, BD23 2BE.
Helen Barnes is leading a workshop based on Charlotte Brontë’s stitch-sampler needlecase during the September meeting 10am-12 noon. Just bring a basic sewing kit and a selection of threads. There are still a few places available and if you would like to attend please let me know.
We will be having our customary Jacob’s Join Lunch at midday. Bring something savoury or sweet, the choice is yours. It is always delicious!
The AGM will take place at 1:30pm. Could you serve on the Committee? We are looking for new people to bring fresh ideas and to continue the work of the Branch. Nominations can be made either in advance or on the day.
We have a different location and a bigger pen at this year’s Yarndale show (28th-29th September). We will be displaying our community work and offering a drop-in workshop. Jane Filby is coordinating our exhibition and if you are able to help with set-up or on the stand on either of the two days, there will be a sign-up sheet at the meeting.
Raffle: Harlequin (any colour!)

HELLO!!

Hello everyone!
We're still here! Hope the Summer has been good for you. We are back in business with our AGM on Sept 16th, please check the newsletter tab for what's happening. Anyone newbies wishing to join us would be very welcome. I know some people like to give the AGM a miss because they think it's going to be a bit long and boring but it isn't - promise! We keep the actual business bit of the meeting to a minimum and will be holding it later in the day than usual as we have the mini workshop and Jacob's Join lunch first, so please do come along.
