Stamford Bridge Tapestry Project

Our thanks go to the ladies from York EG who came to talk to us about the Stamford Bridge Tapestry Project. What a fabulously entertaining afternoon we had. Heather gave us a really interesting overview of the history of England in 1066 and the importance of the Battle of Stamford Bridge in that momentous year. She regaled us with invading Norwegians, claimants to the throne and magic mushroom eating berserkers.
The tapestry reflects the style and techniques used in the Bayeux tapestry and is stunning. It's made up of twelve panels which will be on permanent display in Stamford Bridge in the not too distant future.
