Pearl Loves Paisley

Today we had a fabulous talk from Justine Warner of Pearl Loves Paisley. Justine makes beautiful textile artwork using men's ties as a basis. It all started with a tie cushion made for a village show and has developed into landscapes and mixed media work. She has progressed from the village show to open call exhibitions, art festivals and North Yorkshire Open Studios. Justine is currently exhibiting at Nunnington Hall and was artist in residence at the Yorkshire Arboretum. she talked her through her process which involves photography, selecting her ties and then adding her "pork scratchings" - snippets of thread and fabric which she uses to blend the backgrounds of her pieces. We loved her work and heavy hints were dropped to Clare about a workshop!

In the morning we were up to our usual stitching. Here's a small sample of what members were doing.
