We had a lovely afternoon with Elnaz Yazdani this afternoon which generated a lot of discusson. Elnaz has work in an exhibition at Gawthorpe Hall until November. Her work puts a modern twist on traditional techniques, such as goldwork, with the use of unusual things such as springs and magnetic materials. Her real interest is bringing textiles and stitch to a wider audience by engaging in numerous community projects and going into schools to raise the profile of embroidery; she has even run workshops in an Indian restaurant on a taster evening! Elnaz produces amazing contemporary jewellery and her work is commissioned by Onom, an Italian fashion house. Follow the link to see more of her work.
